In a bewildering, pseudo-threat aimed at millions of Americans who own AR-15s, Joe Biden said, “If you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons.”

So…mere citizens are no match for Big Brother, according to Biden, then why does he feel the need to strip us of even more Second Amendment rights every time he talks about firearms?

Biden’s tough, mocking talk came during a speech this week outlining how his administration will “combat gun violence.”

“Background checks for purchasing a firearm are important … the ban on assault weapons at high-capacity magazines,” Biden said. “No one needs to have a weapon that can fire up to 100 rounds, unless you think the deer are wearing Kevlar vests or something.”

According to Biden, his administration is going to implement “a major crackdown” and have “zero tolerance” for those who illegally deal guns.

“We’ll find you and we’ll seek your license to sell guns,” Biden said.

Stopping the flow of guns to gangs and other criminals is all well and good, but punishing law-abiding citizens through expanded background checks and arbitrary weapons bans has and will do nothing to stop gun violence, which, as National Review notes, has risen as a result of “Defund the Police” riots stemming from protests resulting from civil and societal unrest.

What’s more, NR points out:

“…[T]he federal government is notoriously derelict in failing to prosecute those who violate those laws in purchasing or attempting to purchase firearms. Studies have shown that most illegal firearms are bought on the streets or stolen. Very few are obtained through illicit purchases from registered gun dealers.”
