The no-compromise gun rights group, the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), is sounding the alarms about the Biden administration’s intentions of signing on to the UN’s “Small Arms Treaty.”

The Washington Examiner reported, “Biden aims to sign on to UN’s global gun registration treaty” in September of this year.

This came right after President Joe Biden’s State Department spokesman, Bill Malzahn, informed international bureaucrats of “the continuing commitment of the United States” to the UN’s “Small Arms Treaty” during the gun control Conference of State Parties in Geneva, Switzerland.

During a speech he gave before the United Nations in New York City on September 21, Biden announced, “We’ll continue to uphold the long-standing rules and norms…Bedrock commitments, like support for arms control measures to reduce the risk and enhance transparency.”

Many proponents of civilian disarmament claim this UN Treaty serves to keep firearms out of the grasp of gangs, insurgents, rogue states, and terrorists.

The hypocrisy of the Biden administration is quite astonishing. For example, in its botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Biden administration left $83 billion in U.S. military equipment to Islamic fundamentalists in the Taliban. At the same time, the Biden administration was committed to partaking in the UN’s “Small Arms Treaty.”

The Biden administration’s talk about keeping guns out of terrorist hands rings hollow in light of these facts, which indicate that it’s more focused on disarming lawful Americans instead of malign international actors.

The details of the UN “Small Arms Treaty” should send chills down the spine of any red-blooded Second Amendment supporter. For example, if the U.S. signs on to the treaty, it would be compelled to identify “end users” (gun buyers), document “the quantity, value, and model/type” of firearms and ammunition, and develop “national control standards” to regulate transfers.

In effect, this treaty would create an international gun registry, which many groups like NAGR fear would lead towards firearms confiscation. In fact, NAGR President Dudley Brown warned in a message to NAGR supporters that “all that information would be made accessible by despots and foreign governments including the Treaty’s largest signer — Communist China.”

Once a nation signs on to the treaty, the UN subsequently imposes “International Small Arms Control Standards” (ISACS). Brown listed off what some of the treaty’s language includes:

“*** Mandated national “screening” for those seeking to own guns, giving bureaucrats the final say on whether or not you’re “competent” enough to own a firearm;

*** Restrictive licensing for gun and ammo sales, and perhaps even bans on anything from semi-auto rifles to shotguns and handguns;

*** Restrictions on the number of guns and amount of ammo any “properly-licensed” individual may legally own;

*** Bans on magazines holding more than ten rounds; and

*** Bans on owning a firearm for self-defense — unless a citizen can somehow get government approval (which will only happen if you’re “connected” — or paid half-a-million dollars for one of Hunter Biden’s paintings).

*** Developing new “International Small Arms Control Standards” (ISACS).”

For the treaty to be ratified, 67 votes will be needed in the U.S. Senate. The Senate is split at the moment, with Vice President Kamala Harris serving as the tiebreaker. In addition, there are several Democrats in key swing and battleground states who will not rock the boat by signing on to what would be the most anti-Second Amendment treaty in American history.

Since its founding charter was signed in 1945, the UN has been one of the leading institutions calling for global governance. Achieving such a fantastical political vision requires a tyrannical governing structure, which invariably witnesses the destruction of civil liberties such as the Second Amendment.

Gun owners must always be vigilant. Our opponents never sleep, and they will stop at nothing to destroy our freedoms. The UN Small Arms Treaty is just one way they will undermine the Second Amendment in an underhanded manner. We must deprive them of this opportunity.
